Introducing Sunny

現在は東京に暮らすSunnyさんだが、まだ人生という名の旅の途中と話す。服装やスタイルも出かける先によって変えて楽しんでいる。銀座ではドレッシー、大手町ではビジネスカジュアル、六本木や浅草ではカジュアルめ、日本橋でのコンサートではロングスカートにドレスシャツを合わせる、といった具合だ。その時その場面のテーマに合わせたスタイルを楽しむことは、かつてニューヨークでもやっていたそうだ。各エリアによって違う顔、空気を持つことが東京の魅力なのかもしれない。

Tokyo is home. But at the same time, it is part of my journey. Every time I go out with friends, I visit a different place, and we usually do similar things: we have coffee or do window shopping. But in each area, you see different things, and I choose my clothes to match the area. I always think: “Today, I’m going to Ginza or somewhere else, so I will wear this or that.” I did the same thing when I was in New York: each area had a different theme. In Tokyo, people wear business dress in places like Otemachi, whereas somewhere like Roppongi or Asakusa can be a little more casual. Today we’re in Nihonbashi, but as I’m performing, I chose something to match that, which is not the typical style of this area. When I’m teaching, I tend to wear longer skirts and a dress shirt, something like that; I dress more conservatively, even if that’s not really my style.
