私は科学の勉強を高等教育で深く続けることはありませんでしたが、生命科学のバックグラウンドを持っており、また常に得意科目でもありました。今、生命科学業界で、特に遺伝子治療と免疫療法においては多くの発展が見られ、直近ではCRISPRなどが開発されています。これらの開発や発展によって、これまで治療できなかった多くの病気が治療可能になることを期待しています。免疫療法の用途における1つの大きな可能性として、癌細胞に対して私たち自身の抗体細胞を使用することがあります。つまり、これが実現すれば化学療法は必要なくなるのです。 化学療法は望ましくなく、また明らかに、この分野で儲けることのできる余地はたくさんあると言えるでしょう。

I have a life sciences background. Though I didn’t continue my further education in the sciences, it’s always been my favorite subject. And there’s a lot of growth in the life science industry, particularly gene therapy and immunotherapy, with stuff like CRISPR being more developed these days. There’s a lot of hope that we can cure a lot of diseases that we were not able to cure in the past. One of the possible uses of immunotherapy is to use our own antibody cells against cancerous cells. This means no more chemotherapy; chemo is a bitch. And there’s a shit tonne of money to be made in this field, obviously.
